GFCI outlet wiring
How do you wire GFCI OUTLETS?
A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet is a type of electrical outlet that is designed to protect against electrical shock and electrocution. Here's how to use a GFCI outlet:
Locate the reset button: On a GFCI outlet, the reset button is typically located near the test button and will be labeled "reset."
Plug in the device: Insert the plug of the device you want to use into the GFCI outlet.
Test the outlet: Push the "test" button on the GFCI outlet. If the outlet is working properly, the reset button should pop out and the power to the outlet should be interrupted.
Reset the outlet: To reset the outlet, simply press the reset button until it clicks into place. This should restore power to the outlet.
Use the device: Once the outlet is reset, the device should be powered and ready to use.
Note: If the reset button does not pop out when the test button is pressed, the outlet may not be functioning properly and should be replaced. Also, always make sure to observe safety precautions when working with electrical devices, including turning off power before making any connections.
